Garden Tips: Attracting Bees to your garden

Bumble Bees Nectar

Hello there, Are you wondering how your garden fruits such as watermelon and cantaloupe are going to get pollinated? Well let the Bumble Bee do all the work in exchange for the food that they need (nectar from the pollen rich flowers. Please read my article on hand pollination on this blog.

Choose blue, purple and yellow: Bees find blue, purple and yellow flowers most appealing. Flat or shallow blossoms, such as daisies, zinnias, asters and Queen Anne's lace, will attract the largest variety of bee. The bee flies from yellow flower to yellow flower and pollinates female flowers that carry the ovary or fruit that we love to eat. The result of a successful pollination is that your watermelons or cantaloupes will start to get bigger and grow each day until they are ready to come off the vine.
